Why I’m Pledging to buy Physical Media from here on out.
And you should too.

Good afternoon, everyone. I hope you guys are having a beautiful day.
Recorded media has been around since the VHS/Betamax Era.

Since then, we’ve evolved to DVDs, Blu-Ray, and streaming.
Each of these forms of consumption is amazing and annoying in its own right.
But with the emergence of streaming or just the digital download of content, it is starting to show even more problems I’m sure we never anticipated.

The Pros of Streaming & Downloads
I do have to say right away that I enjoy streaming and downloads.
And I will probably not stop enjoying them entirely, especially cause, in some cases, that’s the only way you can watch and or play some things, but we’ll get into that a bit later.
However, Let’s see what the actual pros are:
You can play or watch without having to pay the total price
It allows you to watch or play without sacrificing storage
It has given some games & movies new life by finally making them accessible
It’s all-around convenient due to portability

Cons & Why I’m Pledging
Based on what I said, you will probably be reading this like.🧐
Sounds great! I honestly don’t see an issue here.
Sadly, my friends, that’s what the large companies gatekeeping our media want us to think.
And with that, let’s see what our Cons are:
The constant shuffling of what’s available
The initial promise of streaming all in one place when they lend out their IPs to other streaming services
The constant increase in prices + how expensive it is to have all available services
The new stringent rules in account sharing
Some movies and platform originals are only available to stream or download
The possible threat of movie deletion despite owning them

This is precisely why I’m pledging to buy physical whenever possible.
Wrap-Up
All in all, I know, of course, I can’t make you guys go out and buy physical media.
I hope streaming & downloads improve because they are treasured and convenient, in all honesty.
Until then, I’m just going to buy as much physical media as possible despite how expensive it is, and I hope you guys consider doing the same.
